10 Walt Disney World Snacks Under $5 #frugallydisney

We're snackin' on a budget.

I like to eat, eat, eat, um... literally everything. But it's 2020 and, baby, we're cutting down on spending this year. We're not cutting down on snacking, though, so I went to Disney World with $50 (well, $47) in cash to show 10 delicious snacks that cost less than $5 each. Some of the prices have tax included and some don't, but I lost all my receipts so I don't know which are which. Here they are in no particular order other than this is the order I decided to put them in.

1. S'mores, $3.99 (Cosmic Ray's, Magic Kingdom)
I love this because it comes with two and is totally shareable if you have just a tiny baby sweet tooth like I do. They're stored in a warm "locker" at the pickup counter so they're nice and toasty when you get 'em. It's kind of crumby so grab a napkin (or be like me and use your jeans).

2. Chocolate Croissant, $3.99 (Gaston's Tavern, Magic Kingdom)
Gaston's Tavern might be known for their colossal cinnamon rolls, but don't sleep on their chocolate croissants. Light and airy with just the right amount of chocolate, this is a great treat for breakfast or a snack.

3. Chocolate Covered Pineapple, um, like $4.99 maybe? (various locations)
This is one of my favorite snacks. Juicy pineapple and delicious chocolate - what's not to love? I can't find my receipt so I don't remember how much it costs, but it's less than $5 for sure.

4. Esquites, $4.50 (Choza de Margarita, Epcot)
Mexican street corn is a deliciously spicy snack, with mayo, Tajin, and chili. It's generally served on the cob, but here it comes in a little bowl, which is great so you don't end up with corn teeth on your hot date. (Or whatever.) Tajin is a tangy seasoning that also tastes great on fruit and Dole Whip!

5. Kakigori, $4.50 (Kabuki Cafe, Epcot)
There is nothing more refreshing on a hot day than a shaved ice. My favorite is the melon; this time I tried strawberry and regretted it tbh. This also tastes delicious with the sweetened condensed milk topping, but that's an extra dollar (and makes it not vegan). Just a note: be careful with these cups  — they get pretty melty and fall apart if you take too long to eat the kakigori. Also I'm literally always dropping ice everywhere so maybe grab a couple extra napkins.

6. Lychee Ice Cream, $3.75 (Lotus Blossom Cafe, Epcot)
Lychee is a small stone fruit that has a light, sweet flavor. I love a canned lychee, a fresh lychee, a lychee mocktail... I'll take it all. This ice cream comes straight from the freezer so give it a few minutes (or, like, one minute if it's super hot out) to soften up a bit and then dig in!

7. Le Cellier Batch #5 Ketchup Chips, $4.00 (Popcorn in Canada, Epcot)
If you've never had ketchup chips you're probably like, "Um... what?" but I PROMISE these are so tasty and worth it! Not super ketchup-y in flavor, they've got good spices and they're nice, thick potato chips. The package also folds over and closes up so you can stick it in your bag if you can't finish them all at once. A must-try for sure.

8. Chocolate-Hazelnut Lunch Box Tart, $4.29 (Woody's Lunch Box, Hollywood Studios)
I LOVE this snack. It's basically a toaster pastry with chocolate hazelnut cream inside and bacon bits on top. The sweet and salty combo is absolutely to die for.

9. Pongu Lumpia, $3.29 (Pongu Pongu, Animal Kingdom)
A lumpia is a Filipino spring roll, commonly filled with pork and/or vegetables. The version available in Pandora is filled with sweet cream cheese and pineapple — OMG, so tasty! I could eat a hundred, but one is enough to satisfy my cravings.

10. Baked Macaroni and Cheese, $4.49 (Eight Spoons Cafe, Animal Kingdom)
The best thing about this mac and cheese is that it's got REAL CHEESE. Is it your mama's mac and cheese? No, but it's much tastier than the plastic cheese version you'll find at most quick service spots. This is also available with pulled pork or spicy shrimp, but that'll put you over $5.

BONUS: S'mores Brownie, $4.99 (Regal Eagle Smokehouse, Epcot)
This one just *barely* squeaks in, as the tax pushes it over $5. One good thing about taking a mega long time to publish this post is that the Regal Eagle Smokehouse opened in the America Pavilion! Literally everything is delicious, but I love this brownie with a graham cracker crust on the bottom and meringue on top. A little different than a traditional marshmallow topping but still something I ate in, like, three bites.

So there you go! 11 snacks under $5 each. You can also find things like candy and cake pops along Main Street or in any of the confectioneries/bakeries in the parks for under $5!

Until next time!
xx Amanda
